Dr. Arikian earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency at MCV. He has significant military experience including active duty in Viet Nam and reserve duty from 1971 to 2002. Dr. Arikian also has spent many years working in corrections, and has served as a psychiatrist at five correctional centers. His outpatient practice includes past work at the Henrico Mental Health Center and at Insight Physicians. Dr. Arikian works with patients age 15 and older.
Ms. Bohn started with our practice in September, 2011. She earned both her B. A. in Psychology and her Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia in 2000. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002. Ms. Bohn will be specializing in individual therapy and behavior modification for children ages 4 years to 12 years old and with adolescent girls. Topics of interest include parenting education, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, children who have witnessed domestic violence, separation anxiety, divorce and blended family issues, disordered eating, and healthy relationship development.
Dr. Corcoran is a graduate of West Point, the Institute of Far Eastern Languages, Yale University, and Weil Cornell School of Medicine, New York, New York. Following an Internship in Medicine and Surgery, he was a resident in Psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles. He trained in General Psychiatry and was also a Fellow in Social Psychiatry and a Post-Doctoral Scholar in Forensic Psychiatry. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and the American Board of Forensic Psychiatry. He retired from the United States Air Force as Chief of Psychiatry at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, where he was also a flight surgeon and a USAF Colonel.
Dr. Corcoran has been in private practice in Richmond for some time now. For a 10 year period, he was an Adjunct Professor of Law at T. C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond, and continues to be a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He is a past Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
Ms. Crockett joined the practice when it opened in 2008. She obtained her B. S. in Child Development and Family Relationships and a M. S. in Marriage and Family Counseling from VA Tech in 1974 and 1977, respectively. Ms. Crockett has extensive training in family systems including a 9-month Family Therapy Intensive Training Program with Jay Harley and Cloe Madanes. Licensed since 1982, Ms. Crockett provides counseling services for individuals, couples, and families and will see children age 4 and older. She practices primarily using a family systems and cognitive-behavioral framework, but makes use of other perspectives as well. Her focus is on recognition and development of individual strengths, developing balance in one’s life, and finding solutions for personal issues.
Ms. Dorée joined the practice in the April 2011. She graduated with a B. A. in Psychology from Bridgewater College of Virginia in 1999 and obtained her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University 2007. She has over ten years of experience in social work. Ms. Dorée primarily practices using cognitive behavioral theory, but will incorporate other ideas as appropriate. Ms. Dorée sees patients aged 16 and older and especially enjoys working with individuals in their 20's and 30's. Another focus of her practice is assisting patients to find coping strategies for chronic pain or illness. She believes that recovery involves integrating and balancing mind, body, social, and spiritual aspects of the self. Ms. Dorée works respectfully with individuals of all faiths and cultures and is LGBT friendly.
Ms. Nordlie obtained her undergraduate degree from Radford University in 1983 and her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1985. She practices from an eclectic, insight oriented perspective. Ms. Nordlie has provided mental health services for over twenty years and currently works primarily with adults and adolescents. She particularly enjoys taking on adolescents with challenging behaviors and individuals with issues around sexual abuse.
Ms. Rowe received her B. S. in Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1990 and her M. S. in Rehabilitation Counseling at the Medical College of Virginia in 1996. Ms. Rowe has been licensed since 2000. With more than 20 years working in the mental health sector, she brings a wealth of experience
to her private practice. She works with adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Ms. Rowe works from an eclectic approach that emphasizes a focus on solutions and nurturing joy and laughter in one’s life.
Dr. Vozza attended medical school at the University of Cordoba National School of Medicine in Argentina and graduated in 1970. He has over 30 years of experience in psychiatric medicine, including work in inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. He completed a one year rotating medical internship at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
His four-year psychiatric residency involved splitting his time between Eastern State Hospital and the Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Vozza spent one year working full time on the Richmond Crisis Intervention team and four years in an inpatient setting working with children and adolescents. His inpatient practice included use of ECT and group therapy as treatment modalities. Dr. Vozza served as the medical director for several psychiatric unit including at the Metropolitan Hospital, Richmond Community Hospital, and at Tucker Pavilion Intake. He currently provides psychiatric care to patients at the RBHA Crisis Stabilization Unit in addition to his private practice at New Direction.
